DCS SWIM ACADEMY
OUR LEARN TO SWIM SCHOOL
DCS SWIM ACADEMY, directed and designed by Direct Current Swimming (DCS) -- a member club of USA Swimming -- is a learn-to-swim program for children ages 4-12. The DCS Swim Academy offers two class levels (Level 1 & Level 2), each with a specific curriculum and skillset to ensure and reinforce competencies in the water. Once Level 2 is mastered, the swimmer will be invited to move into the Bronze level in the competitive swim team. There, the athlete will learn all of the other strokes, and most importantly, build the endurance to produce a well-rounded swimmer, providing peace of mind to parents when your kids go for a swim.

DCS SWIM ACADEMY
CURRICULUM
level 1
Swimmers in this level are beginners; they are new to the water, afraid to put their face in the water, use flotation aids, and/or cling to the pool wall.
Level 1 Tuition = $140 per month
Level 1 Curriculum:
- Putting face in the water
- Kicking while holding on to the wall
- Blowing bubbles (Humming)
- Floating (Back/Stomach)
- Assisted kicking with a kickboard
- Picking objects from a shallow bottom pool
- Performing front crawl arm motion
- Performing beginner Backstroke
- Introducing deep water drills
- Jumping from the block

The following skills must be mastered for an athlete to move up to the next Level--
Level 2 Requirements:
- Ability to push off the wall and swim a short distance without assistance for both Freestyle & Backstroke.
- Ability to kick on their back/stomach
- Ability to jump from the block feet first and swim to the instructor

level 2
Swimmers in this level are comfortable in the water but do not have the skills and endurance to swim the full length of the pool.
Level 2 Tuition = $150 per Month
Level 2 Curriculum:
- Intro to treading water
- Kicking with a kickboard across the length of the pool
- Floating on the stomach and rolling over to the back without assistance
- Swimming Freestyle and Backstroke across the length of the pool in both shallow and competition pools
- Intro to diving
- Intro to Dolphin Kick

The following skills must be mastered for an athlete to move up to the next Level --
BRONZE TEAM Requirements:
- Ability to kick with and without a kickboard for 50 yards (50 yards = 2 length across the competition pool)
- Ability to swim Freestyle and Backstroke unassisted for 25 yards (1 length of the pool)
- Ability to dive from the deck to the pool (kneeling or standing)

BRONZE TEAM
DCS BRONZE TEAM
The Bronze Swim team is our first step into the swim team. In this level, swimmers will increase their swimming endurance and skills, giving more peace of mind to parents of their athlete's capabilities to swim on their own in a pool.
In this program, they will learn to perform a start from the diving block, execute flip turns, and swim Butterfly, & Breastroke. The main focus, however, is to develop their swimming endurance and introduce them to the world of competitive swimming.
This progression is for the DOUGLASVILLE LOCATION. We practice at Boundary Waters Aquatic Center.
