Learn To Swim
Learn to swim with DCS! Our pledge is to get everyone swimming! It's a sport for life.
DCS currently offers two programs:
- DCS Swim Academy (for children ages 4 to 12) -- returning FALL 2025
- DCS Adult Learn-to-Swim (for swimmers ages 18 and over) -- returning Fall 2025
DCS SWIM ACADEMY, directed and designed by Direct Current Swimming (DCS) -- a member club of USA Swimming -- is a learn-to-swim program for children ages 4-12. Swim Academy offers three class levels (Level 1, Level 2 and Level 3), each with a specific curriculum and skillset to ensure and reinforce competancies in the water. Completion of Level 3 Swim Academy will give the swimmer the opportunity to join DCS competitive swim team, should they wish to continue their swim journey.
- Classes, times and dates TBA as we await the re-opening of the BWAC.
Level 1 criteria: Select if your student is new to the water, is afraid to put face in water, swims with floatation aids, and/or clings to the wall of the pool.
Level 2 criteria: Select if your student is comfortable swimming underwater and/or "doggy paddle" away from the side of the pool.
Level 3 criteria: Select if your student can swim freestyle but is not familiar with backstroke, is unable to dive from the side of the pool head first, and can not complete 25 yards without stopping.
**Missed classes will not be pro-rated or refunded. Attendance on assigned day is the responsibility of the participant. If the BWAC pool is closed for any reason, however, missed classes will be rescheduled**
DCS ADULT LEARN-to-SWIM, directed and designed by Direct Current Swimming (DCS) -- a member club of USA Swimming -- is a learn-to-swim program for adults ages 18 and over. DCS offers two class levels, Beginner and Advanced, each with a different curriculum to ensure and reinforce competencies in the water.
Classes, times and dates are TBA as we await the re-opening of the BWAC pool.
Beginner criteria: Select if you are new to the water, are uncomfortable or afraid to put face in the water, swim with floatation aids, and/or need constant support from the wall of the pool.
Advanced criteria: Select if you can float comfortably in the water, do not need to stand on the bottom of the pool, and are ready to receive instruction in the deep (competition) pool.
**Missed classes will not be pro-rated or refunded. Attendance on assigned day is the responsibility of the participant. If the BWAC pool is closed for any reason, however, missed classes will be rescheduled**
