How do I join Adult Learn-to-Swim?
Scroll down and click the registration button below.
The button will take you to our DCS Captyn Platform where you will create a personal account/membership with us and register for the program. You MUST create an account on our digital platform to participate. Account creation will allow you to control your membership via the platform and give you access to important program information.

How do I pay?
Our preferred method of payment is via Credit Card through your DCS Captyn membership account. Credit card payment via the online platform allows you (and us) to manage your account easily.
We currently accept credit cards ONLY through our DCS Captyn online platform.
We also accept Cash or Checks. However,
DO NOT HAND ANY CASH OR CHECKS TO THE BOUNDARY WATERS AQUATIC CENTER FRONT DESK.
DCS is a Private Non-Profit Club that is not affiliated with Douglas County Parks and Rec.
If paying with Cash or Check:
Place your payment in a envolope with your name on it and deliver to the DCS coach that is on deck the first practice of the month OR mail it to the address listed below.

If payment is not received, you will not be allowed to participate.
Is there a minimum or maximum age to participate?
Our minimum age to participate is 18. We do not have a maximum age!
If you want to learn to swim, put on a suit, get in the pool and have some fun. Let's do this!
When and where are practices held?
DCS Adult Learn-to-Swim trains at Boundary Waters Aquatic Center (BWAC) every Thursday between 5pm and 8pm.

Do you offer any program discounts?
DCS Adult Learn-to-Swim does not offer any program discounts at this time.
When does the Adult Learn-to-Swim season start and end?
The 2026 DCS Adult Learn-to-Swim season starts on Thursday, February 5th, 2026, and will end on Thursday, September 24th, 2026.
If you are unable to participate for the entire season, no problem! However, you MUST cancel your membership / give notice via your online account.
Follow these steps:
Login to your personal account, scroll down to "My Registrations", select "Manage", select "Cancel". On the next page, indicate the date that you intend to stop your enrollment. Click "Submit Request".
No written notice via your account = no cancellation.
What if I miss a practice?
Practice is not mandatory, but consistent attendance will help you progress faster! If you are unable to attend, it's ok. Life happens!
Please note that we do not offer any refunds for classes that you miss. Like a gym membership, if you don't attend, it's on you! However, classes that are cancelled due to holidays, weather, or by DCS STAFF will be refunded or credited for the following month.
Having a credit card on file makes it simple and fast to credit or refund your account.
Are there any breaks given during the season?
Yes, extended time off is given during the season so that our instructors can also enjoy a summer and a spring break.

Your monthly tuition will be prorated to reflect the days during which no practice will be held.
How do I cancel my membership?
You may cancel your membership at any time; however, you must cancel your membership/give notice through our website.

It's NEVER TOO LATE to learn to swim!! Our DCS Adult Learn to Swim Program at BOUNDARY WATERS AQUATIC CENTER in Douglasville is designed for adults of all abilities—whether you're brand new to the water or looking to refine your skills.
DCS ADULT LEARN-to-SWIM, directed and designed by Direct Current Swimming, is a learn-to-swim program for adults ages 18 and over. DCS offers two class levels, Beginner and Advanced, each with a different curriculum to ensure and reinforce competencies in the water.
Beginner criteria: Select if you are new to the water, are uncomfortable or afraid to put your face in the water, swim with flotation aids, and/or need constant support from the wall of the pool.
Advanced criteria: Select if you can float comfortably in the water, do not need to stand on the bottom of the pool, and are ready to receive instruction in the deep (competition) pool.

RETURNING FALL 2025 with BWAC reopening!
Join our organized adult swimming program at BWAC – the Douglas County Stingreys! As an affiliate club sanctioned by United States Masters Swimming (USAM), the DCS Masters program offers training opportunities for adults who are committed to enhancing their fitness, are training for personal goals, and enjoy the camaraderie of a workout group.
- Membership is open to adults of age 18 and older.
- No prior competitive experience is required.
- Competition is optional and encouraged!
- Focus is on swimming technique and endurance. Workouts average 2000-3000 yards in 60 minutes.
- Ideal for getting/staying in shape or training for a triathlon.
- Not a learn-to-swim program
Our coaches have trained state, national and nationally ranked competitive swimmers and are well versed on dryland instruction and nutrition for athletes of all ages and abilities.
